Drumming waiters are an exciting percussion ensemble comprised of experienced professional percussionists that are disguised and act as waiters at functions and dinner parties. When the guests are least expecting it, and at the right moment, the drumming waiters break out of their job descriptions with a wonderful array of world rhythms played on the typical waiter paraphenailia such as trays, ice buckets, ladels and spoons, much to the amazement of the guests.

The Straw Boys are part of an ancient tradition in Ireland, and are closely related to Mummers and Wren Boys. In Mayo, Galway, Sligo, they appear mostly at wedding celebrations. They were made up of people from the area, who were not invited to the wedding. These uninvited guests could organise themselves into Straw Boy groups, the idea being that, in disguise, they could "gatecrash" the wedding! Although the wedding-goers would know that The Straw Boys were made up of men and women they didn't

Interactive Drumming Workshops
A typical workshop is totally inclusive and interactive, and starts with a humorous and energetic warm up routine involving Body-Percussion and Hip Hop beats. Absolutely no previous musical experience is necessary.
The workshop will also include a demonstration and a brief journey around the world of drums, from Africa to Ireland. Everyone will then receive an instrument and we will learn to play a piece of high-energy Samba music from Brazil. This is an outline structure, but depending on the type of group involved, the workshop will be flexible enough to adapt to the needs of the individual or group.
Apart from of improving their basic sense of rhythm, all should benefit in confidence, musical ability and musical understanding. They will also enjoy working as a team/band to produce something that can ultimately be enjoyed by themselves and others.
